Trapped Week #3
Still not Tolerant
Judges 6:25-31

God’s Grace is Amazing

There is always a way out of the pit

That night the Lord said to Gideon, “Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one that is seven years old. Pull down your father’s altar to Baal, and cut down the Asherah pole standing beside it.  Judges 6:25

Come back to the place of safety, all you prisoners who still have hope! I promise this very day that I will repay two blessings for each of your troubles. Zechariah 9:12

Then build an altar to the Lord your God here on this hilltop sanctuary, laying the stones carefully. Sacrifice the bull as a burnt offering on the altar, using as fuel the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down.” Judges 6:26

Pride is a sin

Pride is the thing we can’t see in the mirror

Pride is when we obsess over the sins of others, so we don’t have to deal with the sins in our own lives

You cannot separate Jesus and politics

It’s not what we say, it’s how we say it

There are only two genders, male and female, and God decides/assigns the genders

You cannot destroy the property of people just because we don’t like the creator of the product

Men can’t have babies

Men should not be allowed to compete with women

Masculinity is not toxic

A peace keeper appeases everyone. But a peace maker will fight to keep the peace

So Gideon took ten of his servants and did as the Lord had commanded. But he did it at night because he was afraid of the other members of his father’s household and the people of the town. Judges 6:27

You can absolutely be a Christian and not be involved in a church, but you cannot follow Jesus and not be involved in the church

God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself. Ephesians 1:22-23

Early the next morning, as the people of the town began to stir, someone discovered that the altar of Baal had been broken down and that the Asherah pole beside it had been cut down. In their place a new altar had been built, and on it were the remains of the bull that had been sacrificed. 29 The people said to each other, “Who did this?” And after asking around and making a careful search, they learned that it was Gideon, the son of Joash. 30 “Bring out your son,” the men of the town demanded of Joash. “He must die for destroying the altar of Baal and for cutting down the Asherah pole.” 31 But Joash shouted to the mob that confronted him, “Why are you defending Baal? Will you argue his case? Whoever pleads his case will be put to death by morning! If Baal truly is a god, let him defend himself and destroy the one who broke down his altar!”  Judges 6:28-31
