No Limitations
Grave Robbers Week #1
No Limitations
John 11:1-6
Lord, I can’t see you, so help me to trust you
A man named Lazarus was sick. He lived in Bethany with his sisters, Mary and Martha. 2 This is the Mary who later poured the expensive perfume on the Lord’s feet and wiped them with her hair. Her brother, Lazarus, was sick. 3 So the two sisters sent a message to Jesus telling him, “Lord, your dear friend is very sick.” John 11:1-3
Three types of Sickness:
1. Physical Sickness
2. Emotional Sickness
3. Spiritual Sickness
Three Reasons We don’t speak about sickness:
a. Fear
The quickest way to lose sight of what God says about me is to hyper-focus on what someone else says about me
b. Shame
Shame shackles us to the past and stops us from stepping into an amazing future
c. We have seen what has happened to others that admitted they’re sick
Religion kicks you out, but Jesus draws you in
But when Jesus heard about it he said, “Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.” John 11:4
No matter your situation, Jesus has no limitation
Three Common Church Myths:
Myth #1- My suffering is for God’s Glory
Myth #2- God doesn’t want me to be happy, He wants me to be holy
God does not want us to be filled with resentful submission, He wants us to be filled with absolute joy
Myth #3- Sickness is simply a lack of faith and effort
So although Jesus loved Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, 6 he stayed where he was for the next two days. John 11:5-6
Jesus loves us enough to wait
Oftentimes Jesus wants to do way more in our lives than we’re actually asking for
Jesus knows
Jesus cares
Jesus is at work
