Mistaken Identity
Matthew 16:13-17
Social media is a tool that we should use rather than a tool that controls us
The misinformation is— you need to find your identity in the ideas that other people have about you
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is? Matthew 16:13
“Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” Matthew 16:14
When we become who “they” want us to be, we’re not becoming who Jesus wants us to be
The people retorted, “You Samaritan devil! Didn’t we say all along that you were possessed by a demon?” John 8:48
Personal attack
Private thoughts
Negative thoughts do not come from God
Negative thoughts are ideas usually that are planted in our mind by other people
Painful Action
We do not have to allow deception to keep us from our destiny
Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Matthew 16:15
You get to choose who the “you” is for you
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being. Matthew 16:16-17
Correction is speaking life. Condemnation is speaking death.
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1
What is true about you if you are in Christ:
You are free
You are forgiven
You are not forsaken
You are blessed
You are victorious
