Jesus, Help Me Feel Alive
Isaiah 55:8-9

 

  • Our thinking compared to God’s thinking is incredibly limited

 

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

 

  • Jesus, give me your thoughts, show me your ways, help me feel more alive

 

HOW WE CAN KNOW GOD’S THOUGHTS AND WAYS:

  1. His Church

 

  • If you love Jesus… church isn’t an option

 

But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church. He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison.  Acts 8:3

As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a light from heaven suddenly shone down around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” Acts 9:3-4

 

  • Power is attracted to presence

 

Here are a few things you can commit to:

Attend Regularly ________ Serve Purposefully ________

Connect Relationally________ 

Give Generously ________ Invite Boldly________

  1. The Word of God

 

  • The Word of God is the Will of God

 

 

  • The Word always leads to His Will

 

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

  1. His Spirit

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.   John 14:16-17

“There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.  John 16:12-13

 

  • The Spirit will guide us about our future

 

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11
