Master of the Miraculous Week #2
Don’t Allow the Familiar to Become Familiar
John 4:43-54

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8

At the end of the two days, Jesus went on to Galilee. 44 He himself had said that a prophet is not honored in his own hometown. John 4:43-44

  • When we let the supernatural become familiar, we miss the miracle

Yet the Galileans welcomed him, for they had been in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration and had seen everything he did there. 46 As he traveled through Galilee, he came to Cana, where he had turned the water into wine. There was a government official in nearby Capernaum whose son was very sick. John 4:45-46

  • The individual matters to Jesus

When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged Jesus to come to Capernaum to heal his son, who was about to die. John 4:47

  • We often don’t get the miracle because we’re not asking for it
  • Jesus wants us to bring Him our problems, but he doesn’t need our ‘how’

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

Jesus asked, “Will you never believe in me unless you see miraculous signs and wonders?” John 4:48

  • If Jesus doesn’t do what you want Him to do the way you want it done, it’s still a miracle

The official pleaded, “Lord, please come now before my little boy dies.” John 4:49

  • Are you calling Jesus Lord?

Then Jesus told him, “Go back home. Your son will live!” And the man believed what Jesus said and started home. John 4:50

  • The Word of God can bring healing to our lives

While the man was on his way, some of his servants met him with the news that his son was alive and well. 52 He asked them when the boy had begun to get better, and they replied, “Yesterday afternoon at one o’clock his fever suddenly disappeared!” 53 Then the father realized that that was the very time Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” And he and his entire household believed in Jesus. John 4:51-53

  • The miracle that Jesus wants to do in you and through you is bigger than you

This was the second miraculous sign Jesus did in Galilee after coming from Judea. John 4:54

  • If you are in Christ, the enemy has no power over you
