Child Dedication Sunday
June 5, 2022 8:00am - 12:15pm | Central Church
The history of Child Dedication
Child dedication has its origin in the Book of Exodus in chapter 13 verse 2; “Consecrate to me every firstborn male. The first offspring of every womb among the Israelites belongs to me, whether human or animal”. The Bible relates some presentations of children. That of Samuel, in the Old Testament by Hannah. And especially the presentation of Jesus in the Temple in the New Testament by Joseph and Mary. Likewise, Jesus blessed children.
Central Church and Child Dedication
At Central Church, we practice child dedication in lieu of infant baptism. Our goal is to encourage the parents to raise their child in a Christian home and teach them to follow Christ until they make a faith decision for themselves. We also ask our fellow attenders to set an example for the child and do all they can to aid in their faith journey.
At the child dedication service, families are called to the church stage where Pastor Ryan shares what it means to raise your child biblically, seeks the congregations supports and prays (with the church elders) over each child.
