The Power of the Resurrection

Easter 2025
The Power of the Resurrection
Luke 22:42-44; 22:54; 23:32-33; 24:5-6

5 Things we can relate to in the Easter Story:

1. Confusion
In His time, Jesus will bring clarity out of confusion
2. Stress
Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” 43 Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him. 44 He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood. -Luke 22:42-44

3. Labeled

So they arrested him and led him to the high priest’s home. And Peter followed at a distance. -Luke 22:54

The enemy will always try to label us

Labels lock us in and lock God out

4. Abandoned

At that point, all the disciples deserted him and fled. -Matthew 26:56
5. Suffering

Two others, both criminals, were led out to be executed with him. 33 When they came to a place called The Skull, they nailed him to the cross. And the criminals were also crucified—one on his right and one on his left. -Luke 23:32-33

At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” -Matthew 27:4
Easter is about the resurrection

The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee -Luke 24:5-6
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. -Romans 8:11
