Theory or Truth?
2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20; Romans 12:2; Isaiah 55:8-9; Romans 8:37
Critical Theory = my identity is based on my gender, my race or my sexual orientation
Biblical Faith = my identity is based on who I am in Christ
• First Identity
• Primary Identity
• Jesus didn’t die to be a part of our life, He came and died to be our life
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! -2 Corinthians 5:17
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. -Galatians 2:20
• The word repentance comes from the Greek word metanoia, which means to change the way you think
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. -Romans 12:2
• Critical theory is all about my thoughts
• Biblical Faith is all about God’s thoughts
2 main expressions that come out of Critical Theory:
1. “I’m living out my truth”
2. “If it feels good, do it
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. -Isaiah 55:8-9
God has revealed Himself to us in 2 primary ways:
1. The person of Jesus
2. The Holy Scriptures
Critical Theory = Victim / Victimizer
Biblical Faith = Overwhelmed / Overcomer
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. -Romans 8:37
