Waiting in the In-Between
Luke 2:51-52

  • One of the most challenging places in life is the “in-between” moments.” It is that place where patience is required and choices are tested.

51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. ~Luke 2:51-52

If we don’t live our lives in the in-between there are two potential outcomes:

A. We could miss what God’s doing

In one of his “in-between-times,” David wrote: Psalm 27:13-14 “I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord” (Amplified).

B. We can negate what God’s doing

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. ~Romans 12:2 (NASB)

Three Challenges for Living in the In-Between:

1. Wherever You Are, Be There

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” ~Romans 5:1 (NIV)

2. Don’t allow the Hurriedness to be your priority in your life.

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” ~Psalm 46:10 (NLT)

3. God’s purposes are found in the in-betweens of life.

“Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love.” ~Ephesians 4:1-2 NKJV

  • “Your “in-between times” are moments where God can build something new, fresh and something wonderful

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:19 (NLT)
