Decisions
John 15:5-8
Decision #1: You’ve decided to do it but will you do it?
Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. ~Matthew 3:8 (NLT)
Decision #2: Jesus gives us an offer and we have to decide if we want it
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. ~John 10:10a (NIV)
I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. ~John 10:10b(ESV)
Decision #3: Are we willing to trust in Christ?
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. ~Psalms 28:7
Decision #4: Even though we may intend what is right, do we avoid the life that would make it a reality?
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. ~John 15:5
Decision #5: Are you willing to cut off a branch in order to grow?
If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. ~John 15:6
By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. ~Matthew 7:16-18 (NIV)
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. ~Hebrews 12:11 (NIV)
Decision #6: To celebrate with joy in the midst of suffering
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. ~John 15:7
About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. ~Acts 16:25
Decision #7: We must keep it before us or we will stray from glorifying God with our lives.
This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. ~John 15:8
