We Believe
- What we believe determines how we behave.
Seven things we believe at our church:
1. We believe in God the Father
- If we view our earthly father in a negative light, many times, that is the image we will project onto our heavenly Father
This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, Matthew 6:9
9 “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:9-11
- God is a good Father who wants good things for His children.
2. We believe in Jesus Christ
- Jesus never ran for office, never wrote a book, never led an army, never invented anything, yet He is the most talked about, studied and well-regarded person who has ever lived.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
3. We believe in The Holy Spirit
- The Holy Spirit comes into us the moment we receive Jesus
The Holy Spirit provides in our life:
A. Direction
- The Holy Spirit of God and the word of God work hand in hand. They never work in opposition.
B. Attention
- He puts our attention on Jesus and on other people.
C. Peace
4. We believe in The Crucifixion
- Jesus was crucified for our rebellion against God
Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified. Matthew 27:26
5. We believe Jesus Conquered Death
6. We believe in The Resurrection
- Because we have an empty tomb we have no empty promises in Christ.
7. We believe Jesus Is Coming Back
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son but only the Father. Matthew 24:36
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14:1-6
