The Road Ahead
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. -HEBREWS 12:1–2 NLT
Jesus didn't just save us FROM something. He saved us FOR something.
1) WHAT HAS YOUR EYES?
24Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified. -1 CORINTHIANS 9:24-27 NLT
Don’t allow the distractions around you to determine the direction within you.
2) Move your feet in OBEDIENCE.
12 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. 13No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. -PHILIPPIANS 3:12-14 NLT
You can't follow Jesus standing still.
3) FOLLOWING JESUS ALWAYS LEADS TO PEOPLE.
“Follow me,” he told them, “and I will make you fish for people.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him. -MATTHEW 4:19–20
As Jesus changes ME, He should eventually be reaching SOMEONE through me.
Who's your ONE?
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.” -LUKE 19:10
Follow Jesus so faithfully that someone who knows you gets the opportunity to know Him.
