The Power of the Shepherd

Psalm 23:1-6

And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor. 1 Peter 5:4

   - What does Jesus want to change in me?

 1. Jesus, make me more aware of who you are

 The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. Psalm 23:1

   - God is Holy

   - Holy = perfect and without sin

 2. Jesus, make me be aware of your ways

 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.3 He renews my strength.  He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Psalm 23:2-3

   - We don’t draw lines, we draw circles

 3. Jesus, make me aware of your presence

   - We tend to not see the presence of Jesus in the middle of dark seasons

 Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me Psalm 23:4

 Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalm 30:5

 4. Jesus make me aware of your blessings

 You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Psalm 23:5

   - Many times, we cannot focus on the feast because we are focused on the fight

 5. Jesus, make me aware of your pursuit

 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6
