Worry - Week #6

Overcoming Worry

Philippians 4:6-7

  • Sovereign = Rules and Reigns Supreme

For this has been decreed by the messengers; it is commanded by the holy ones, so that everyone may know that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world. He gives them to anyone he chooses— even to the lowliest of people.” Daniel 4:17

“‘This is what the dream means, Your Majesty, and what the Most High has declared will happen to my lord the king. Daniel 4:25

You will be driven from human society. You will live in the fields with the wild animals, and you will eat grass like a cow. Seven periods of time will pass while you live this way, until you learn that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world and gives them to anyone he chooses.’ Daniel 4:32

After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever. Daniel 4:34

He was driven from human society. He was given the mind of a wild animal, and he lived among the wild donkeys. He ate grass like a cow, and he was drenched with the dew of heaven, until he learned that the Most High God rules over the kingdoms of the world and appoints anyone he desires to rule over them. Daniel 5:21

We tend to worry most when we fail to recognize
that He is The Most High God:

1. In the world

  • The Cross is evidence that even in our most tragic circumstances, God is still in control

2.  When Jesus isn’t sovereign in my world

  • Worry left unchecked leads to anxiety

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

  • Too many people are looking for relief instead of peace
  • What we escape to will one day be what we need to escape from

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6

  • Prayer is passing it off to God
