I Was Made for More

John 3:1-3; John 4:4-8

  • The biggest lie the enemy uses to get us off track is, I am notenough

Two types of people in John 3 and John 4:

1. The religious

There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee. 2 After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.” 3 Jesus replied, â€śI tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” John 3:1-3

Why Religious People Struggle With “I Am Not Enough”:

a. I can’t do enough

  • Christian activity does not equal maturity

b. I can’t ask for help

  • Repentance means to change the mind

  • Sin is sin no matter who agrees or disagrees with it

2. The rebellious

He had to go through Samaria on the way. 5 Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. 7 Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, â€śPlease give me a drink.” 8 He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food. John 4:4-8

What did this woman and Nicodemus have in common?

1. Shame

  • Shame will shackle us to a past that Jesus died to save us from and rob us of the future He has for us

2. Despair

3. A need for a relationship with Jesus

  • Christianity = Christ in me

  • Christ in me = I am enough

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! 2 Corinthians 5:17

1. I know who I am because I know who you are

2. The cross of salvation was only the start

3. Now I am Chosen

4. Free and forgiven

5. I have a future and it’s worth the living

6. Because I wasn’t made to be tending a grave

7. I was called by name born and raised back to life again. I was made for more

8.So why would I make a bed in my shame

9. When a fountain of grace is running my way

10. I know I am yours

11. I was made for more
