Give in or Push Through

Mark 4:47-31

SOME THINGS TO REMEMBER IN REGARDS TO SPIRITUAL WARFARE:

1. Jesus hears our cry

That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Mark 4:35
  • Church isn’t supposed to be a castle of condemnation, but rather a basement of grace
2. Jesus is calling us out of comfort

 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. Mark 4:36
  • Jesus has great plans for our lives, but it always starts with a small step
  • Asking for help is incredibly uncomfortable
3. The storm is evidence of our significance
  • The storm is not evidence of our sinfulness
A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” Mark 4:37-38
  • One of the biggest mistakes we can make in spiritual warfare is underestimating our enemy.
  • Don’t let the enemy’s storm cause doubt and discouragement in your life
4. What Jesus speaks is stronger than our storm

 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Mark 4:39
  • The Word of God is what calmed the storm
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” Mark 4:40-41
  • Sometimes the biggest miracle is not when God changes our circumstances, but when He changes our perspective in those circumstances.
