Trapped – Week #2 – March 30, 2025
Patient Not Tolerant
Judges 6:15-24

  • God is patient, He is not tolerant
  • If Jesus is doing a work in our life, eventually it will be undeniable

But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” Judges 6:15

  • When we start to see Jesus more clearly, we will follow Him more closely
  • Limitations lead to desperation

The Lord said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.” Judges 6:16

  • I will be with you and you will be a good spouse
  • I will be with you and you will be a good parent
  • I will be with you will be able to take your next step
  • God will never call you to do what He will not fulfill through you, if you’ll simply be obedient to it

Gideon replied, “If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the Lord speaking to me. 18 Don’t go away until I come back and bring my offering to you.” He answered, “I will stay here until you return.” Judges 6:17-18

  • If you’re not as close to Jesus as you once were… He didn’t move, you did

Gideon hurried home. He cooked a young goat, and with a basket of flour he baked some bread without yeast. Then, carrying the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot, he brought them out and presented them to the angel, who was under the great tree. Judges 6:19

  • It’s when we get in the presence of God that we find His direction

The angel of God said to him, “Place the meat and the unleavened bread on this rock, and pour the broth over it.” And Gideon did as he was told. Judges 6:20

  • We don’t have to understand God to trust God

Then the angel of the Lord touched the meat and bread with the tip of the staff in his hand, and fire flamed up from the rock and consumed all he had brought. And the angel of the Lord disappeared. 22 When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the Lord, he cried out, “Oh, Sovereign Lord, I’m doomed! I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!” 23 “It is all right,” the Lord replied. “Do not be afraid. You will not die.” Judges 6:21-23

  • When we get real and honest with God He will speak into our situation

Repent (metanoia) means- the changing of the mind

And Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and named it Yahweh-Shalom (which means “the Lord is peace”). The altar remains in Ophrah in the land of the clan of Abiezer to this day. Judges 6:24

  • It is impossible to be worried, anxious or depressed in those moments where we are intentionally focus everything on Jesus
