Let’s Chat

Matthew 4; Matthew 9; Luke 9; Mark 16; Mark 10; Philippians 3

1.  I want you to take your next step

We can get wrapped up in spiritual activity and not experience any maturity

When we get immersed in activity apart from intimacy, it always produces pride and arrogance

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.  Matthew 4:18-20

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. Matthew 9:9

He said to another man, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” 60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God. Luke 9:59-60

2.  If you have fallen, I want you to get back up

For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again… Proverbs 24:16

3.  I want you to be a part of someone giving their life to Jesus.

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15

4.  I want you to feel safe enough to be honest about where you are

You can’t get well until you admit you’re sick

Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:46-48

People that make excuses never make an effort

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. 51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” 52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.  Mark 10:49-52

We can’t get right with God until we’re willing to admit what’s wrong

5. I want you to understand that I’m not perfect

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  Philippians 3:12
